Approach

Aspiring Materials have developed a mineral refining process to extract and supply magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) from abundant Mg-rich silicate rocks (i.e., carbon-free rocks).

Mg(OH)2 has been shown to geologically, chemically, and industrially mineralise CO2. Additionally, Mg(OH)2 enhances seawater alkalinity and reacts with CO2 from the air (i.e., direct air capture) to form a stable carbonate product.
